Emergency Plumbing & Burst Pipes in Northern Colorado

Pipes that froze and split, water spraying from a line, or a leak you can't stop. Shut the water off, then call.

Emergency plumbing & burst pipes

What usually goes wrong

First, stop the water. Close the main shutoff, then open a faucet on the lowest floor to drain the pressure out of the lines. If water is reaching outlets, appliances or the electrical panel, keep clear and switch off power only if you can do it from a dry spot. Move what you can out of the way and take photos for your insurance company.

Northern Colorado winters bring sharp cold snaps, and pipes in exterior walls, crawl spaces, garages and under cabinets on outside walls are the usual victims. When a deep freeze is coming, open those cabinet doors, let a faucet drip, disconnect garden hoses and keep the heat on even if you will be away. A frozen pipe that has not burst can often be thawed gently with warm air; never use a torch or open flame.

When you call, say that water is actively leaking. Availability after hours and on weekends depends on the provider, so ask about any emergency or trip fee before they head out.
